S. A. Patekar is currently Dean at the Vidyalankar Institute of Technology (VIT), Mumbai and formerly Professor and Head, Department of Computer Technology, Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute (VJTI), Mumbai. He is a Chartered Engineer, I.E.(I), and has a Ph.D. in electrical engineering. He is the recipient of the Lord Reay Gold Medal and Sir Phirozeshah Silver Medal of VJTI. He was honoured with the Indian Society for Technical Education National Award in 1992 and the Best Teacher Award by the Government of Maharashtra in 2007.
