Dr. Promode Kr. Saikia has been teaching in the North Eastern Hill University, Shillong for over thirty years. He also taught in the undergraduate college of St. Anthony's in Shillong for two years after completing his B. Sc and M.Sc. in Mathematics from Delhi University in 1972. He obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin, Madison (U.S.A.), working under the supervision of Prof. Louis Solomon. His research interests are in the areas of number theory and p-adic analysis. Helping students enjoy mathematics and develop an interest in problem-solving has been the main goal of his long teaching career.
