Fawwaz T. Ulaby

Fawwaz T. Ulaby is the Vice President for Research and the Williams Distinguished Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Michigan. His research activities in microwave technology have led to the publication of several books and some 600 scientific papers and technical reports on imaging radar design, the microwave dielectric properties of natural materials, the physics of radar scattering, and the development of algorithms for mapping the earth's surface using satellite-borne radar systems. Since receiving his Ph.D. degree in electrical engineerin.g from the University of Texas at Austin in 1968, he has supervised over 100 M.S. and Ph.D. graduate students. Professor Ulaby is a Fellow of the IEEE, member of the National Academy of Engineering, and recipient of the 2001 IEEE Electromagnetics Award.
